Multicore fiber single photon emitter module for quantum communication

In the project "Multicore fiber single photon source" (MultiCoreSPS), innovative quantum chips for quantum communication with high transmission rates are being developed. The modules consist of semiconductor-based single photon sources that are directly coupled to multicore optical fibres. For the first time, several quantum channels and classical channels can be used simultaneously for secure information transmission at the highest data rate. Within the project, JCMwave develops simulation models for the optical and thermal behavior of the module. The models are used to optimize the performance for example in terms of the coupling-efficiency of the single photon emitters to the multi core fiber.
